"In 1949 I first visited New York. Sound recording by means of  magnetic tape was new. It gave  incredible advantages over the old disc recording method…. In 1951 I worked with Lennie Tristano and Roy Haynes on the tracks Pasttime and Juju”-  an  historic recording when overdubbing was used for the first time in jazz improvisation.

1952 I purchased my first tape machine and set up Wave recordings. By 1960 I had a large loft in downtown Manhattan and was recording jazz groups – Zoot Sims, Al Cohn , Bill Evans, Tommy Flanagan, Jerry Mulligan - for such record labels as Verve and Warwick. “

Back in London in 1966 I had a recording studio firstly in my home, then, in 1982 , I bought 1 Hoxton Square, London. I opened Wave studios then, in 1984,  opened the Bass Clef club in the basement recording Jazz, African and Latin American sessions.

 I adopted yet again to the next new form of recording – digital. By 1988, there were 26 Vinyls in Wave’s catalogue. During the 90s, we set up Wave’s Digital CD Collection – in total 20 CDs."
