Many people have made the joke – How to be a Millionaire with a jazz club. Start with two million. So it was with Peter.

In 1982 Peter bought a rundown factory at the corner of Hoxton Square, London. By 1982 the area was rough – a murder around the corner, complaints about cars being broken into.

He did all the renovation with a team. 1982 he opened Wave recording studios and, in 1984, the basement Bass Clef club and then the Tenor Clef music room. It was enormously successful as a Jazz, African and Latin music centre, if not making money.

In 1994 with the financial crisis, interest rates  of up to 20%, plus unfettered hedge funds he lost it and was virtually bankrupted. But for 10 years it had been a centre for younger generations of musicians and for new audiences for jazz.
