As a child Peter was badly asthmatic, off school and needing to be out of the way of his Father’s temper. He spent much time walking and painting nature.
Ironically he began painting again at the end of 1957/58 while working in Florida with the Buddy Rich band – partly because the Everglades were so beautiful but also keeping away from an irascible Buddy.
He exhibited in New York in the 50s and Big Sur in the 60s. Back in the UK he had exhibitions in London, France and Barbados. Finally he moved to Rottingdean, Brighton on the coast road. Inspired by the scene he did his last pastel sketches in 2019. He exhibited at The Grange Gallery in 2018, 2019 and posthumously in 2022.
